The extensive modernization of the U2 main line has been completed. The U2 will run continuously from Seestadt to Karlsplatz again from Friday, December 6th, 2024, when operations begin. In the U2 stations Rathaus, Volkstheater, Museumsquartier and Karlsplatz, passengers in Vienna will encounter the new platform doors for the first time.

Business travelers and conference participants in particular will be able to travel from the Hotel Zipser from the Rathaus station to the Messe Wien without changing trains.
