New Year’s Eve Trail in the center of Vienna
On December 31st, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Vienna’s old town is transformed into a huge party area. With a colorful show program on numerous stages, New Year’s Eve will be filled with waltzes, rock, oldies, boogie, pop, DJ lines and folk music. The numerous stations along the New Year’s Eve path ensure great entertainment and a festive atmosphere for the thousands of guests from home and abroad.
The popular classic mile on the Graben deserves a special mention. Well-known Viennese dance schools offer lightning waltz dance courses for the famous waltz at midnight on Stephansplatz. With karaoke and a children’s program, the entertainment of the little New Year’s Eve pilgrims is also provided. For the sake of people, animals and the environment, the city of Vienna is again doing without fireworks as part of the New Year’s Eve Trail.

New Year’s Eve Gala in the Viennese Town Hall
A short walk from the Hotel Zipser takes you quickly and comfortably to the Vienna City Hall, where one of the most glamorous events of Vienna’s New Year’s Eve takes place every year: At the New Year’s Eve Gala in the magnificent ballroom of the Vienna City Hall, you are guaranteed to experience a stylish and romantic New Year’s Eve in Vienna. It is an unforgettable experience of elegant Viennese ball culture.
For all visitors who have booked the gala dinner in advance, the evening begins at 6:30 p.m. After a welcome cocktail at 7:30 p.m., you are invited to the 4-course New Year’s Eve gala menu. A good 3 hours later, guests without dinner bookings join the party. While the Vienna Court Ball Orchestra enchants with lively classical sounds, the live band “Midnight Spirits” invites visitors to faster rhythms.
The absolute highlight of the evening: At midnight on the balcony of the Vienna City Hall with a wonderful view of the old town of Vienna, the New Year is toasted with a glass of sparkling wine, while the famous Blue Danube Waltz is sung in the background and outside the fireworks transform the sky into a magnificent sparkling transform spectacle. During the more traditional midnight show, presented by dancers and vocal soloists from renowned Austrian stages, a delicious classic Viennese goulash soup will spoil the palate of the visitors.

New Year’s Eve on the Danube river

New Year’s Eve on the Danube Tower
New Year’s Eve at the Vienna Danube Tower promises an unforgettable view from above of the sea of light in Vienna and the fireworks. From the reserved table you can enjoy the wonderful view of St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Ferris wheel, the Danube Island, the Danube and the Reichsbrücke, as well as the magnificent fireworks at midnight. New Year’s Eve „Am Himmel“
At the New Year’s Eve celebration in the octagon “Am Himmel” in the 19th district, you can enjoy the turn of the year on the green outskirts of Vienna on a large meadow with a breathtaking view of the colorful New Year’s Eve fireworks above the city, but still have enough distance to enjoy the spectacle comfortably. In the sound room of the tree of life circle “Am Himmel” you are invited to waltz dancing.

Getting around on New Year’s Eve with Public transport
In addition to the underground, most tram lines and many bus lines are also in use during the night from December 31st to January 1st. The subway lines run at regular intervals until around 3 a.m., then at the usual 15-minute intervals. Tram and bus lines from 01:00 a.m. every 30 minutes.
