Luxury Shopping in Vienna – all around the Golden Quarter

A few years ago the Kohlmarkt was still the golden mile of Vienna. When the Tuchlauben-Quarter was rebuilt, to create the Golden Quarter , the Kohlmarkt was joined across the Graben to the Tuchlauben, and now houses the luxury labels of this world. The combination of modern architecture with the conservation and protection of historic monuments, and the possibility of making use of sales areas compliant with branding, has induced the big luxury labels to open their doors here – we have had a look around the ‘Goldenes Quartier’ or Golden Quarter, and have discovered a few things.

Across 11,000 square metres and 3 storeys the luxury and fashion labels are presenting their products – fashion, shoes, evening dresses, everything the heart of a fashionista could wish for. A real novelty in Vienna’s city centre: All luxury labels assembled at one location like in New York, Singapore, Paris and other metropolitan cities.

While the luxury labels, such as Louis Vuitton, can be found on the first three storeys, probably the most elegant offices in Vienna have been installed on the 4th and 5th storeys. And one storey above these there are flats with a spectacular view – just a dream!

Apart from the renovated and partly rebuilt Golden Quarter the reconstruction of the Tuchlauben-Quarter has had the result that also other luxury labels have gathered all around it. The already mentioned label Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent, Mulberry, Miu Miu and Roberto Cavalli – just to name a few – have opened their doors in the Golden Quarter, while at the Kohlmarkt brands such as Cartier, Tiffany or Burberry can be found. If you go in the other direction – within the Tuchlauben – you will find Agent Provocateur or the store of Vivienne Westwood – a paradise for all fashionistas. While some go shopping, others may want to get to know more about traditions. For all those who can’t get excited about shopping, but would still like to enjoy the architecture and the area around the Golden Quarter, there is a real Viennese institution to be found: Zum Schwarze Kameel. Schwarzes-Kameel-Luxury-Shopping-Vienna-Zipser-2 Here you will not only find the best sandwiches in town (recommended: red cabbage with tuna, French Brie with nuts and curry, egg with jives are superb), but also the Viennese society. However, you may find it difficult to find a seat – but the Schwarze Kameel also has a solution for that: If you can’t eat there, you can still take away some of their delicatessen for eating at home or as a souvenir – right next door not only delicatessen are available, but also their home made patisserie – a dream!   And here is a list of some brands which can be found in and around the Golden Quarter: Golden Quarter: 7 for all mankind, Alexander McQueen, Bambini, Bottega Veneta, Brioni, Brunello Cucinelli, Emporio Armani, Etro, Church’s, Kiton, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Mulberry, Prada, Roberto Cavalli, Sergio Rossi, Saint Laurent, Valentino Tuchlauben: Renez Lezard, Vivienne Westwood, Agent Provocateur Graben: Cartier, Hermés, Jil Sander Kohlmarkt: Burberry, Chanel, Dior, Dolce & Gabanna, Ferragamo, Tiffany & Co
